When a series of wild animal attacks threaten the villages of a small kingdom, the local leaders seek out a military veteran, Kilian Korban, to hunt down the beasts. Having left war behind him to raise a family, Kilian reluctantly agrees to the hunt. However, as he hunts the beasts through the night, along with a few old friends from the army, he soon realizes there is far stranger powers at work in the forest than any he had encountered before. With far more at stake than he first realized, Kilian must find the strength to face one more battle to protect not only his family, but his whole country.
